SAFILM Screens ‘Colossal Youth’ at Alamo Drafthouse
On Wednesday, May 8, the San Antonio Film Festival (SAFILM) held a special screening of the made-in-San Antonio teen comedy/drama Colossal Youth at the Alamo Drafthouse Park North. Director R. Scott Leisk and co-writer Aaron Lee Lopez were in attendance, along with other members of the cast and crew.
Presented along with the feature were sneak previews of the upcoming films The Margarita Man and Teenage Girl: Valerie’s Holiday. All were produced by Mutt Productions, a digital studio founded by Lopez in an effort to bring more filmmaking activity to San Antonio. A Q&A followed the screening.
Adam Rocha, founder and executive director of SAFILM, introduced the screening as part of a series celebrating the Festival’s 25th anniversary. Alamo Drafthouse, a sponsor of this year’s Festival, facilitated the event.
The next special screening event for SAFILM will be the inaugural Rooftop Cinema Club on May 16, which will be held on the roof of Artpace San Antonio. An evening of short films will be presented, curated by filmmaker and SAFILM staff member Cedric Thomas Smith.
The 25th Annual San Antonio Film Festival takes place July 30-Aug. 4, 2019 at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. VIP passes are on sale now.
