Let’s Speak Shakespeare with Actor Melissa Zarb-Cousin
No matter how old you are, Shakespeare isn’t easy to understand. Shakespeare’s writing is a different language all of itself, but have no fear – we’re here to help! As young actors, you may have not seen or heard of his plays but you have heard his stories used as the inspiration for Disney movies, Broadway musicals, and more. Join Melissa as she breaks down the Bard in a way that’s fun and easy to understand! This interactive workshop will have you speaking Shakespeare in no time, no matter your age or experience. The First Burp: A Master Class on Song Writing with Broadway Actor and
Award Winning Composer Douglas Lyons
Douglas Lyons is an actor, writer, director, composer and playwright based out of New York City. Onstage, Doug has been seen on Broadway in The Book of Mormon and the original cast of Beautiful, as well as the national tours of Rent, Dreamgirls, and 1st Nat’l BOM. Doug’s writing credits include Polkadots (Off Broadway Alliance Winner Best Family Show, Atlantic Theater Company), Five Points (MN Theatre Award for Exceptional New Work, Theatre Latte Da), Beau (Adirondack Theatre Festival), ’64 (The 5th Ave), The Funeral (Prospect Theater Co). His most recent play, Chicken and Biscuits, premiered at The Queens Theatre earlier this year. Douglas is currently developing Five Points with Hamilton‘s Andy Blankenbuehler. With composing partner Ethan Pakchar, his words and lyrics have played or been developed at Roundabout Theater Company, Lincoln Center, Papermill Playhouse, Flint Rep, The Old Globe, Goodspeed Musicals, Seattle Rep, Joe’s Pub, NAMT and more.
